A New Year of Yore

Well alot of great things have happened since the last time I blogged and I’m finally getting around to telling you all about it. It’s basically been work work work and part party party for yours truly since the last week of December. We had three, count um three Christmases so that everyone from each and every side of the family would get the chance to feed each other and watch each other open gifts. It was wonderful to get to see everyone again and we all got some fine gifts. I got a nice new grill from my parents which i haven’t had the chance to try out yet but I’m really looking forward to it.

Next was several showers for my sister April’s wedding leading up to the grand finale- the wedding itself! It was a beautiful ceremony at St. Francis of the Islands Church followed by a rockin’ reception at the Savannah Yacht club. My brother Eric and I got to play a few numbers with the band and dedicate a song to Chris and April, which was an absolute blast. The evening ended with the beautiful couple riding off into the night on my cousins’ small yacht, drinking champagne.

Of course after that we had New Years (Tammie and I celebrated it low-key because we were kind of worn out by that time).

Since then it’s been back to the grind-stone with work, toiling to sell a million dollars worth of cabinets by the end of the month to make ends meet as usual. Oh, to have the time to write regularly again!

Also in good news, I quit smoking on the last day of the year…so now I can say that I quit at the same age as my dear old grandpa, who put them down at 35. The story is he threw his pack away one morning in the railroad yard but by lunchtime he found himself crawling around looking for them, and a light went off in his head that said “Why am I doing this? These things have got control of me!”

He never smoked again, and lived to the age of 98. So maybe I can too!

Of course it took some Nicorette gum to help in my case- I didn’t quit cold turkey like he did.

But anyway, the day before yesterday was my birthday and I’m now prime number 36.

I’m glad to be sharing a birthday with Elvis, Soopy Sales, David Bowie, and Robby Kreiger and to answer your question, I don’t feel the least bit older than I did a month ago. Without tobacco, I dare say I feel younger!

But I’ve digressed far enough. I’m just glad to say I’m back and that I’ll be blogging more regularly in the months to come. I still have a long way to go on the Yore Mobile and the Yore Album, but I’ll be keeping you informed. Happy New Year to you all!
